I recently received a Developing your Creative Practice Grant from the Arts Council of England (ACE).
Accordingly, I am currently taking private time to explore new areas of practice and acquire new skills such as sculpture, book making and printing, to add to my previous practices of working with textiles, acrylic painting and creative writing.
I am however writing a public account of this exploratory year which you can read here. There is an index of all posts and a list of links to resources here.
My present exploration is primarily focusing on such topics as memory, loss, identity autoethnography and social justice. I enjoy working with text – both actual and asemic- and am often inspired by my large photographic collection of graffiti tags.
In my writing practice, I am experimenting with new forms of writing such as the lyric essay and the poem. My Substack Encore explores the experience of living creatively in the second half of life.
During this time of retreat and renewal this site reflects my daily practice of seeking a balance between my desire on one hand to share some of my experiences and my process with the aim of inspiring and supporting others and on the other hand preserving the internal facing ‘chrysalis’ experience I need at this time.
